ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

ATEC is a 27,000-Sqaure-foot, fully accredited, non-profit, community based, post-secondary training facility. Under the direction of the ATEC Executive Director, the finance comptroller is responsible for the planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting (internally and externally), evaluating results, safeguarding ATEC’s assets and meeting with competing deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the financial affairs of the organization and the financial community for the guidance of management;
  • Responsible in the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability effectiveness of the organization;
  • Maintaining the company’s system of accounts and kept books and records on all company transaction and assets;
  • Establish major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepare reports that outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Review all documentation for accuracy and correctness including proper authorizations;
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts; institute and maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost account systems) and analyze and report variances;
  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate monthly , quarterly, and annual financial statements as required and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll;
  • Responsible for the tax planning in compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes;
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board and external auditors as necessary;
  • Furnish internal reports as necessary to funding agencies;
  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalize items and advise management of desirable operations adjustment due to tax revisions;
  • Evaluate and recommend insurance coverage for protection against proper losses and potential liabilities;
  • Responsible for providing effective financial controls for the organizations;
  • Maintain an inventory of all District property and provide for disposal of surplus;
  • Proficiency with the Sage Simply Accounting Software System; and
  • Assume additional managerial duties as appropriate to the position
  • Work with the ATEC entities and other service providers.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend meeting as required
  • Other duties assigned.

OFFICE ADMINISTATION:

  • Oversee the management of all leases, rent collections for both the dorms & teacherages, contracts and other financial commitments;
  • Monitor all legislation relevant to the organization (employment standards, occupation health and safety, human rights, etc.) and all regulations or professional certification to ensure that the organization is compliant; and recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Strategic thinking, planning and organizational skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Good listener capable of managing a diverse group of individuals within the organization;
  • Experience with strategy development and implementations;
  • Strong business acumen;
  • Ability to lead complex projects through to and end point;
  • Able to deal with multiple, competing demands; and demonstrate excellent organizational skills combines with leadership capacity
  • A valid class 5 drivers license

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline, Accounting, Business Management, Finance, CPA/CMA/CGA or CA designation is preferable;
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in similar role;
  • HR experience preferable
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Sage Simply Accounting software;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint and knowledge of principles and practices of basic office and finance management.
