Need a Job? We can help!
The Pre-employment Supports Program
People who aren’t currently employed sometimes need a guide to lead them into their future. The Pre-employment Supports Program is a free service designed to do that for NCN Citizens who are on Income Assistance between the ages of 18-64.
We can help with:
- Resume writing
- Practicing interviews
- Job shadowing
- Life skills training
- Transportation
- Child care
“We help people determine what their strengths are, what kind of job they would like to have, and then we figure out how to get them on that path,” says Teresa Linklater .
Linklater coordinates the program with Marilyn Spence through the Government Office. She says the program currently has space for 50 people, between the ages of 18 and 64, who are on Income Assistance.
Once you’re accepted into the program, you’ll be assigned a case manager who will help with your resume, networking and anything else you need to find a job that suits your goals and lifestyle.
“The longer you stay on Income Assistance, the harder it can be to find a job, because you start to lose your confidence,” says Linklater. “We know there are jobs available in our community, and we know there are great workers here, too. Our job is to match them up!”
