Effective July 1, 2023 Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM) will cease to accept referrals for medical inquiries and/or advocacy requests on a short-term basis.
KIM is undertaking priority tasks toward the goal of transformation and transfer of medical services from the federal government and is operating at maximum capacity managing referrals that require clinical services, advocacy, and case management.
KIM continues with finalizing an Agreement in Principle with the Federal/Provincial Governments and MKO Nations to take on the design and delivery of certain aspects of the health care system in the north. The agreement in Principle will be followed by a legally binding framework agreement which will formalize a new arrangement for transforming healthcare and teh transfer of some functions of FNIHB MB on behalf of 23 northern First Nations. KIM will continue to influence change within Manitoba’s Provincial health care system and its regional health authorities, as new First Nations led health entity.
KIM recognizes the importance of First Nation led patient advocacy and resuming this work.
We apologize for the interruption in this level of support. Please note that the Sakihiwewin Patient Advocates remain available at the Thompson General Hospital during the hours of 7:30am and 11:30pm, Monday through Friday.
