To All NCN Parents/Caregivers
- On March 31st, 2020, the Minister of Education for Manitoba, Kelvin Goertzen, issued a letter as recommended by the Chief Provincial Public Health Officer that has directed all schools to suspend classroom learning indefinitely for this school year.
- This decision is based on the COVID-19 pandemic that is upon us
- All students will be expected to actively engage in remote learning via the technology.
- Students who were on track to graduate from grade 12 this year will.
- Provincial exams will be cancelled
- No students will be held back because of the COVID-19 pandemic
- Students will receive a final grade and report card
- Planning will have to be done to minimize the impact on the next school year and arranging for learning recovery where needed
- School buildings may close but should maintain essential staffing so resources can be accessed.
- Schools must ensure social distancing and increase cleaning for infection prevention
- The Department of Education is committed to ensuring that parents, students, teachers and administrators have the needed information
