NCN Enters into Partnership with National Access Cannabis

NCN has entered into a Limited Partnership opportunity with National Access Cannabis (NAC), Canada’s best practices leader in delivering secure, safe, and responsible access to legal medical cannabis. Under the terms of the Agreement, NCN have agreed to partner with NAC to establish a retail recreational cannabis store on First Nation land located in Thompson, Manitoba, once the Province of Manitoba establishes the legal framework to do so.

Upon legalizing marijuana, the federal government delegated the responsibility to each province to determine how it will distribute and sell legal marijuana by July 1, 2018. In Manitoba, the Liquor and Gaming Authority will be responsible for purchase, storage and distribution of cannabis, while the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation will be in charge of tracking the province’s supply. Retail sales will be open to the private sector. The Province of Manitoba has initiated an RFP (Request for Proposals) of which they will select four businesses to be licensed for retail sales. NCN and NAC submitted a proposal in December 2017.

NCN intends to work with NAC to open and operate a cannabis store on the Mystery Lake lands. “We’re always looking for a chance to diversify our economic development. This is a new industry that will bring many benefits to our community, including employment and profits,” says Chief Marcel Moody. Read the Newsletter for the complete story.
