Tansi!
I strongly urge everyone to STAY AT HOME. Limit your interactions even in our community as the number of COVID-19 cases is growing everywhere. There are now 4 active cases in Thompson and 1 in South Indian Lake. Contact tracing is underway and we may learn of more cases in the next week. If you have been advised to self-monitor and self-isolate, take this directive seriously. FOLLOWING THE PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTIVES WILL SAVE LIVES. So far, we have NO cases in our community. To keep it that way each of us must do our part.

Active Cases Are Continuing to Climb

The number of cases in Manitoba has grown over the weekend to 1131 active cases, the highest Manitoba has ever had. A significant number of the cases are in First Nations communities. The experience in Little Grand Rapids and Peguis confirm the need for the utmost caution at this time.

Young Also Die from this Virus

The recent number of positive cases show that nobody is exempt from this deadly virus. It is not only Elders who die from this disease – the death of a man in his 40’s was reported today. This virus may also cause long term effects to the heart, lungs, hearing and mental health.

STAY HOME AND STAY SAFE! NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO LEAVE THE COMMUNITY FOR ANY REASON. Please remember we are all responsible for protecting our families, our loved ones, and our community.

This year has been a struggle for all of us as individuals, as families and as a Nation but we still have lots to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day.

If you have any questions or concerns please call the COVID-19 on call lines at (204) 679-0179 or (204) 679-0279.
