The recent cultural camp at White Wolf Camp, on ‎Friday, ‎September ‎12, ‎2025, was more than just a field trip for the NNOC students, it was a powerful experience that strengthened our NCN youth’s connection to Cree traditions, language, and ways of life.

Throughout the day, students rotated through a variety of learning stations that offered hands-on experiences and traditional teachings. They picked berries, learned about sweat lodges, participated in drumming lessons, and explored the history of their Cree culture. What began as a shy and quiet group quickly transformed into a lively gathering, where confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging grew stronger with each activity.

Our youth were not just learning skills, they were living the values of community, respect, and responsibility. Elders and Knowledge Keepers guided the sessions with patience and dedication, ensuring each teaching was meaningful and memorable. The youth listened closely, showing great respect for their mentors and for the land that provided these lessons.

The camp was also a celebration of health and wellness. The youth were constantly active: walking, exploring, drumming, and participating in ceremonies. Being on the land promoted not only physical activity but also balance, spiritual growth, and mental wellness.

By the end of the day, it was clear that the White Wolf Camp experience had left a lasting impact. Our youth walked away with stronger self-esteem, a sense of belonging, and the knowledge that they are part of something greater: a Nation built on resilience, culture, and tradition.

As we look toward the future of NCN education, events like this remind us of the importance of land-based learning. These opportunities prepare our youth to become future leaders who understand and respect their heritage, carrying our Cree identity proudly into the generations ahead.

Thank you, to all the presenters, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and organizers who made this event such a success. You are helping shape the future of our Nation.
