Our Mandate:

The Nisichawayasi Nehetho Culture and Education Authority Inc. (NNCEA) believes that education must provide for the academic, social, emotional, spiritual, physical development and well-being of all students under its responsibility. One of our main objectives is to establish a strong path for our children by increasing and strengthening our language and culture programming. We strive to guide our students on their miskanaw (life journey) by nurturing their identity as an asiniska ithiniwak (Rocky Cree) from nisicawayasi and their ability to speak the nihitho language.

We are dedicated to supporting our students and their families in language revitalization and cultural reclamation. To fulfill this objective, our efforts in recent years have focused on creating nihitho educational resources, implementing a nihitho immersion curriculum and incorporating Indigenous perspectives in all subject areas.

The Project:

We are seeking a motivated Video/Audio, Editor/Producer to edit and produce compelling videos/audios and digital media that will inspire and promote student and community member learning of the asiniska ithiniwak (Rocky Cree) culture and language.

Type of Engagement:

Freelance Deliverables-based/Contract to be completed within a Six (6) month Term/ Contract beginning at the start date stipulated in the contract.

Remuneration

  • MAXIMUM PAYMENT cannot exceed $30,000 as per the following breakdown:
    • $800 per completed video to a maximum dollar amount of $20,000.00 for 25 videos.
    • $400 per completed audio recording to a maximum dollar amount of $10,000.00 for 25 audio recordings.

Deliverables

  • 25 Instructional videos that are between 10 -15 minutes each.
  • 25 Instructional audio recordings designed for broadcast (and/or Biogs) that are 30+ minutes each.

Duties (Video)

  • Prepare rough and final cuts for the videos;
  • Input effects, graphics, dialogues, and music into the videos to make them more visually appealing;
  • Insert music and necessary sound effects to the video clips;
  • Store/ save the final product according to our established archiving protocols.

Duties (Audio)

  • Prepare rough and final cuts for the audio recordings;
  • Incorporate recording elements appropriate for broadcast/ Blog;
  • Store/ save the final product according to our established archiving protocols.

Necessary Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Premiere Rush, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Audition and DSLR camera image and video transfer;
  • Working computer skills in the Adobe Creative Suite, editing software, video formats, file sharing and streaming; and
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Internet and ability to learn new software.

Storage and Archiving

  • Knowledge of audio/video tape storage and archiving procedures.

Additional Skills / Qualities

  • Excellent ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines;
  • Flexibility to work at varying times, and last-minute work demands, if necessary;
  • Must be prudent with the maintenance and use of all production equipment, computers, and shared storage environment;
  • Be a creative problem solver; Dedicated to producing high quality end product;
  • Self-motivated; Willing to go the extra mile; and
  • Detail-oriented.
