An important update for any members receiving assistance through the Income Assistance Department regarding the distribution of the Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Settlement funds under the Manitoba Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) Program.
The Income Assistance Bulletin dated 2025-08-25 from Indigenous Services Canada confirms that the TLE distribution will not affect your EIA application or the income you receive. Manitoba EIA has verified that TLE payments are exempt under Regulation 8 (1) (a) (xxi), which excludes land claim settlement payments made by a First Nation from being counted as income.
TLE payments will NOT be included as income for EIA recipients, nor will they affect their EIA payments.
