Round Dance Celebration with the Family and Community Wellness Centre!
What a beautiful evening of laughter, drumming, and dancing! The round dance is more than just a tradition, it’s a celebration of unity, healing, and our deep connection to our ancestors, community, Creator, and the land. This event truly showcased the vibrancy of our Cree traditions, bringing together families, friends, and neighbors to honor our loved ones and strengthen our bonds. The energy was incredible, the elders and the youth dancing side by side, sharing smiles and stories. One of our MCs reminded us, “Bringing your kids here is just the beginning—a stepping stone for them to embrace and enjoy our Cree traditions truly.” Seeing our youth running around, encouraging elders to dance, and sharing laughter was a powerful reminder of how our traditions unite all generations.
The round dance circle grew as the drums echoed through the Multiplex, filling the space with love and connection. The steady drumbeat resonated like the heartbeat of our people, and the songs, sung in Cree, carried the stories of our history and traditions. At the night’s end, gifts were shared with everyone, ensuring every child left with a toy, spreading joy and reinforcing our NCN values of generosity and community.
