Subject: Power Outage Preparedness
From: NCN Chief and Council

Interruptions can happen without notice or warning. Stay safe and be prepared by planning ahead.

Be Prepared Before an Outage

——————————————
• Keep flashlights, candles, matches, and extra batteries in an easy-to-find place.
• Charge cell phones and power banks regularly.
• Have a 72-hour emergency kit with food, water, blankets, and medications.
• Ensure you have a safe alternative heat source (wood stove, generator, etc.) and know how to use it properly.
• Check on elders, family members, and neighbours who may need assistance.

Take Care During a Power Outage

——————————————
• Stay indoors and dress in layers to conserve heat.
• Avoid opening fridge or freezer doors to keep food cold longer.
• Use generators outdoors only — never inside a home or garage due to carbon monoxide risk.
• Remember toilets, taps and sewage will not work without power.
• Listen to NCN Radio, community announcements, or social media updates for official information.

Stay safe, stay warm, and take care of one another.
