Following the most recent Emergency Management Operations (EMO) meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2025, we want to provide our NCN families and community members with the latest updates regarding wildfire activity and evacuation plans:

  • No Immediate Threat to NCN
    According to the NCN Lands, Environment & Resources (LER) Department, there is no immediate threat to our NCN community from the surrounding fires. LER Department continue to monitor “Fire 62” near Foot Print Lake, and current forecasts show conditions that will negatively impact the fire’s growth, a positive sign for our NCN Community.
  • Evacuation Site Updates
  • NCN members currently at Fort Garry Hotel will be relocated to South East Collegiate.
  • NCN members staying at Dakota Dunes Resort will be moved to the Sandman Hotel.

These changes are being coordinated to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved.

  • NCN Fire Guard Expansion
    Plans are actively underway to increase and strengthen the NCN Fire Guard to enhance protection around our community from fires.
  • Planning for a Return Home
    The EMO team is now working on a return list for some of our evacuees to come home safely in the near future. More details will be shared once finalized.
