Position Summary:

The intent of Community Participation (CPA) Program is that the Organization or the individual, through the CPA worker(s), becomes part of the delivery of community correctional services.

Expectations:

  • To provide supervision and intervention (ex. Probation, bail) to adult and youth offenders by:
    • Maintaining regular contact with the client.
    • Monitoring and enforcing conditions of orders ( School attendance)
    • Responding to requests for assistances
    • Providing the Probation Officer with regular reports and;
    • Access local resources on behalf of the offender.
  • To complete Alternative Measures as assigned by the Probation Officer by:
    • Interviewing youth and parents;
    • Informing them of their rights;
    • Arriving at the disposition and completing the Alternative Measures form and;
    • Monitoring the disposition and advising the Probation Officer of completion or problems;
  • To monitor Temporary absences by:
    • Providing information to the Custody Caseload Manager on the appropriateness of a temporary absence (re: family and community situation),
    • Liaison with the C.C.M. re: arrival and departure;
    • Monitoring temporary absence conditions and reporting back to C.C.M. and liaison with family;
  • To act as a liaison between the Probation Officer and the community by:
    • Interpreting the probation program, policy and actions to clients and the community;
    • Relating with community leaders,
    • Relaying community concerns to Probation Services,
    • Serving as community as well as the Probation Services representative in court and ;
    • Networking with relevant agencies in the community.
  • To be involved in crime prevention and support other community programs by:
    • Assisting in assessing community needs and resources and;
    • Assisting in developing and delivering offender programs in the community.
  • To assist in the preparation of
    • Post Sentence Summaries
    • Pre-Sentence reports by:
      • Interviewing the accused and relevant collateral’s
      • By submitting in writing the collected information
      • To maintain and respect the confidentiality of all information, data and documents with security and sensibility and;
      • To work as a member of a team and meet deadlines.
    • Other Duties as Required

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must complete a Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check and provide with your Resume and Cover Letter
  • Related work experience and/or equivalent related education
  • Strong oral and written skills, Ability to speak Cree an asset
  • Computer experience preferred
