NNCEA is seeking interested applicants for a Child and Youth Care Worker to join our team at our K-6 School (OK School). The successful candidate will work in unison with our Inclusive Education team to meet the needs of our students in a variety of different capacities. This role will consist of collaborating with others and providing supports such as life skills, social skills, conflict resolution, behaviour management, and more. This position will also consist of implementing a holistic approach to service the social emotional needs of the students within our school system.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with our Inclusive Education team to identify students who require assistance and services
- Respond to immediate concerns and needs using life space interventions and crisis interventions
- Provide support during crisis situations
- Creates and implements appropriate management strategies for crisis situations
- Focus on behaviour, social and emotional development, communication, self-regulation, and social skills
- Provide behaviour management programs to identified individuals
- Participate in the development of IEPs and safety plans with implementation
- Assist students in the acquisition and maintenance of academic, communication, social, emotional, and personal management goals
- Provide culturally appropriate social and life skills to individuals and groups
- Collaborate with community stakeholders to build programming for students
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to build induvial plans and to provide updates, techniques, and routines to build individual strengths
- Assists with developing strategies for individuals to meet specific goals
Position Aspects
- This position falls under the NNCEA Policy guidelines
- Hours of work are 8:00am to 4:00pm daily
- This position follows our school calendar
- Rate of pay: Negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and industry standard
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Work or equivalent field
- CPR First Aid an asset
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention training an asset
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
