The Nelson House Medicine Lodge is hiring a full-time permanent receptionist to greet our relatives (our client)s, and visitors and perform various clerical tasks. Since this position acts as the first point of contact for the Medicine Lodge, the ideal person will be reliable, have a friendly and polite attitude, strong organizational skills and an willingness to assist.

Please Note: The Nelson House Medicine Lodge works with adults with high levels of mental health and substance use disorders and have been exposed to significant serious or long-lasting trauma. Staff shall be aware of the inherent risks of working with this at-risk population we serve as well as other risks that may occur with new admissions.

POSTION SUMMARY:

The Receptionist plays a key role in representing the Nelson House Medicine Lodge and is important to arrive to work on time to greet our relatives (clients), staff and the public at large. Reporting to the Operations Manager, they are responsible for maintaining the reception area, keeping it clean, tidy and organized. They must be prompt, courteous, and practice proper telephone etiquette when greeting visitors and the public at large. They will be aware of the programs and services offered at the NHML, and be able to provide general information to the public. The work is usually performed at their workstation within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess good communication and written skills; be professional in their interaction with cour relatives, staff, and public; have the knowledge and abilities with human relation skills and telephone etiquette; ave a strong consistent work ethic and ability to maintain confidentiality. All applicants must provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check and must sign an Oath of Confidentiality before date of hire.

Must have experience with computers and software programs to assist in creating and maintaining Word and Excel documents; have ability to work with general office equipment; possess strong office and technical skills; have good time management and communication skills and is wellmannered and thoughtful is considered an asset to the business image of an organization.

This position involves direct contact with residential clients and therefore we must encourage that you be an abstainer from any mood-altering drugs and alcohol for a minimum of 4 months. An understanding of Indigenous culture & the ability to speak an indigenous language is an asset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Certificate from a recognized business college or a high school diploma or a combination of training and work experience is required to be able to carry out their job tasks and duties effectively and efficiently. Willing to train the right person.
