Position Summary/ Job Description:

The Cook is a supervisory role that will take care of the day to day operation of the NCN Multiplex Canteen.

The  Cook will oversee the daily operation of the kitchen and management of food. Order food supplies, creating  planning menus. The Cook will ensure the operation of the kitchen follow Safe Food Handling practices.

Duties:

  • Ensure safe food handling practices are in place
  • Supervise kitchen staff
  • Prepare monthly work schedule for kitchen staff, time sheets are maintained and submitted for payment
  • Order food supplies necessary to provide the regular meal plans
  • Receive and check supplies
  • Ensure proper and secure food storage
  • Prepare daily specials
  • Ensure the kitchen meets health code standards and health inspection
  • Prepare schedule for kitchen staff
  • Assist in any other duties assigned
  • May require to work weekends and or evenings
  • Maintain an updated inventory while ordering food and supplies, such as kitchenware

Education and Experience Guidelines:

  • 2 years experience in a cooking and safe food handling practices
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and capable of receiving and giving instructions
