SUMMARY:
The Employment & Income Assistance Case Worker will be responsible for a variety of duties aimed at assisting individuals and families within Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN). The Case Worker will administer and implement social assistance programs and community services such as training development and workshops with internal and external service providers to enable clients to move into employment. This role requires strong leadership, deep community connection that support clients and families to achieve their goals.
DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Co-CEO’s the Employment & Income Assistance Case Worker is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Assist clients and families find employment opportunities and provide support to those who are unemployed.
- Administer the Employment & Income Assistance (EIA) program, which provides financial support to eligible clients who have no other way to support themselves or their families. This includes benefits from the Rent Assist Program that helps with housing costs.
- Connect clients with various resources, including employment training programs, support groups, and other services that can assist clients improve their quality of life.
- Perform assessments to identify the social needs and strengths of their clients, which aides them in planning and implementing effective support strategies.
- Advocate for clients’ rights and needs, ensuring that they receive the support they require to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
SKILLS:
- Oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with clients, colleagues and the public by phone, computer and in person. Communicate messages and information in a clear and concise manner.
- Willingness to participate in relevant training initiatives as required by supervisor.
- Must demonstrate good analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures of the Employment & Income Assistance program.
- High Level to sensitivity to community issues.
- Planning and implementing appropriate programming for clients.
- Judgement and impact of errors to determine sensitivity of information being requested.
- Provide appropriate messages and information and apply policies and procedures when providing information to clients.
- Must be punctual and maintain good attendance.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of grade 12 with a combination of skills and experience equivalent to:
- Graduation from a post-secondary program in Social Services or related field is an asset.
