SUMMARY:
Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Lead Program Prevention Coordinator to manage and oversee the distribution of prevention funding within our community. The Lead Program Prevention Coordinator will report to the Co-CEO’s. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that prevention programs are effectively administered and aligned with our community’s priorities. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote impactful prevention initiatives that foster long-term well-being.
DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Co-CEO’s, the Lead Program Prevention Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Program Management: Administer and oversee prevention funding, ensuring that it is allocated effectively to support community-driven programs and initiatives.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and manage budgets for prevention-related programs, tracking expenses, ensuring financial accountability, and providing regular activity reports.
- Grant & Report Management: Assist with the preparation and submission of funding applications, progress reports, activity and financial reconciliations related to prevention initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with community leaders, program coordinators, and external stakeholders to identify needs and support the development of strategies for effective prevention programs.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure all prevention programs comply with relevant funding requirements, regulations, and community policies.
- Capacity Building: Offer guidance, support, and training to staff and community partners involved in the implementation of prevention programs.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in program administration, ideally in community health, prevention, or grant management.
- Skills:
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent computer skills, (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, Internet, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate events.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders, leadership, program managers, elders, and youth.
- Familiarity with community-based prevention programs and social services.
- Familiarity with departments/organizations in NCN and surrounding communities.
- Traditional/land-based knowledge would be a great asset.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Network with various program managers.
- Commitment to the community’s values and goals.
- Cree Language would be an asset.
- Cultural competency with an understanding of Indigenous perspectives and needs.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
