Position: Community Patrol Workers X 4 Positions

Salary Range: 13.50/hour – 8 hours/7 day Rotation

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Justice and Public Safety, the Community Patrol Workers will be responsible for maintaining the safety of the community. These individuals will be required to perform Peacekeeping and general community monitoring duties. The Community Patrol Workers will be required to document all incidents, activities and reporting to appropriate community resource such as Child and Family Services, RCMP and/or Emergency Services. They will be required to have strong verbal and written communication skills in order to be successful in this position.

Main Duties:

  • Enforces all applicable Band Council Resolutions;
  • Protect and serve the community at all times;
  • Work with the community to develop and deliver crime prevention and community wellness programs to improve public safety;
  • Take a leadership role within the community;
  • Deliver critical incidences and crisis intervention services;
  • Assignments in community patrol;
  • Patrol assigned areas being vigilant at all times of potentially high crime areas;
  • Respond to emergency calls and administer First Aid or CPR where required;
  • Perform duties while maintaining the cultural integrity of the community;
  • Prepare, maintain and review a number of detailed reports daily;
  • Adhere to all policies and follow established procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Completion of High School and/or equivalent;
  • Strong knowledge of the First Nations community dynamics;
  • Able to meet physical requirements for this position;
  • Fully valid class 5 (five) license or 4 (four) is greater asset;
  • CPR and First Aid is a definite asset;
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing;
  • Experience in working with the public;
  • Able to work well under pressure;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
