EMO Wildfires Update – Smoke in the Area

The EMO Team wants the NCN community to know that there is no immediate danger to NCN, and we are not under any evacuation notice. To keep our NCN Citizens informed and safe as the smoke from nearby fires has grown thicker in and around our community. However, due to the changing conditions and growing smoke in the air, we are asking all NCN Citizens to stay home whenever possible.

If you do need to go outside, we strongly recommend wearing a mask to protect your lungs and limit outdoor exposure. Please also keep a close eye on your children and make sure they are accounted for at all times.

This is a good time to be prepared and have a “to-go-bag” ready because it’s always wise to be ready in case things escalate quickly.

Suggested Items for Your Go-Bag:

  • Important documents (ID, health cards, any prescriptions)
  • Water bottles (2L per person if possible)
  • Snacks (granola bars, canned food, dried fruit)
  • Medications (at least a few days’ supply)
  • Phone charger or power bank
  • Warm clothes and socks
  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes)

Again, we want to stress that there is no current evacuation or direct threat to NCN. This is simply about being ready and staying safe as the situation continues to develop.

Please continue to monitor NCN’s Facebook page, NCN Radio, and our website for the most current updates. We will keep you informed every step of the way.

Stay safe, stay connected, and take care of one another.
