SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the NCN Housing Director, the Incumbent will be trained in all aspects of the housing program to advance into the position.  This includes compliance with all housing codes, regulations and standards.  Responsible to organize, deliver and supervise the housing program and all housing projects. Must be familiar with CMHC guidelines, funding, rental regimes, and rental property management.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To plan, organize, develop, and co-ordinate a comprehensive Housing Program.
  • Understanding of housing operations and maintenance.
  • Employee supervision.
  • Ensure all housing functions are covered.
  • Participates in management team efforts to improve the overall operation of housing facilities and the extension of services.
  • Works closely with the Nisichawayasihk Housing Board on housing matters and policy development.
  • Coordinates in-service training as required.
  • As part of project management, the incumbent must understand and be able to monitor contracts effectively.
  • Administers a housing budget.
  • Must ensure asset inventory of the housing stock.
  • Prepares estimates of work hours, materials, and resources required for projects, initiates requisitions for materials and supplies; and prepares reports and maintains records of repairs.
  • Acts in a professional, courteous and humanistic fashion in their interactions with clients and staff
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Housing policy, rules, and regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate in facilities management technician or Post-Secondary and a  minimum of 2 years of experience in related field
  • Extensive experience and expertise in maintenance, operating and repairing equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of building maintenance, analytical and planning ability and mechanical inclination
  • Proven leadership abilities combined with excellent interpersonal and written skills
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties
