POSITION SUMMARY/JOB DESCRIPTION:
The kitchen staff will work under the supervision of the NCN Medical Receiving Home Head Cook. The kitchen staff will assist in providing meals three times a day on a daily basis to patients who stay in the Home to attend medical appointments in Winnipeg. The kitchen staff will ensure the operation of the Kitchen follow the Canadian and Manitoba guidelines for nutritional needs and Safe Food Handling practices.
DUTIES
- Ensure safe food handling practices are in place
- Help receive and check supplies
- Ensure proper and secure food storage
- Assist in preparing monthly meal plans
- Aid in preparing and serving three times a day on a daily basis
- Ensure the kitchen meets health code standards and health inspection
- Assist in any other duties as directed by the NCN Medical Receiving Home Manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- 2 years experience in a cooking and safe food handling practices
- High school diploma
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and capable of receiving and giving instructions
- Ability to speak Cree is an asset
