On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, NCN Parks & Recreation, in partnership with NNCEA, hosted a special family event that lifted spirits across our NCN community. After the challenges of the recent wildfire evacuation, families were treated to a day in Thompson at the Stand Theatre to enjoy Bad Guys 2, complete with pizza, popcorn, drink and laughter.
From the moment the buses arrived, excitement filled the air. Our youth and parents stepped off with smiles that said everything. One young girl turned to her father and beamed, “We get pizza, a movie, and popcorn today!” her words capturing the happiness of the day.
The sunny weather was beautiful, but the real brightness was on the faces of the youth as they picked their seats, laughed with friends, and enjoyed being together again. Parents patiently let their children lead the way, choosing their own spots and savoring the fun of the outing.
This event was more than just a movie trip; it was a chance for our community to come together, to celebrate family, and to find joy again after difficult weeks away from home. It reminded us that even in challenging times, moments of laughter, connection, and togetherness make us stronger.
