While completing our final election reports and cross-referencing the Statement of Vote sheets with the election spreadsheet, we identified an error in the.
The tally sheet for Shirley Linklater was incorrectly entered into the spreadsheet, resulting in 60 votes not being included in her total. This was an honest data-entry error. The handwritten 72 was read as 12, as the “7” appeared similar to a “1.”
As part of our final reporting process, we also cross-referenced the Chief vote totals, and we can confirm that the Chief votes were entered correctly and no changes were required.
After reviewing and correcting the Council tally, Shirley Linklater’s vote total increases by 60 votes. With this correction, Shirley Linklater moves into the 6th position for Council, and Barb Moore moves into the 7th position.
We want to be transparent with our members regarding this correction. We sincerely apologize for the error and any confusion it may have caused.
For transparency, we have attached a photo showing the original error on the tally sheet, along with the corrected final standings for Members to review.
