Our community is facing a serious concern, and we need everyone’s help to keep both people and pets safe.

There is concern about community safety. Over the Christmas holidays, there were 6 reported dog attacks on community members. These were only the incidents reported to our Animal Control Officer, Ted, and the actual number is believed to be higher.

To protect our community members from being attacked, we are reminding all pet owners of the importance of securing your dogs to your property at all times.

Please be aware that fines are in place for not securing your dog:

  • 1st pick up: $75
  • 2nd pick up: $150
  • 3rd pick up: $225

On the 3rd pick up, for your pet to be released, the owner must:

  • Prove they can properly secure the animal, and
  • Pay an additional $300 fine, as the pet will be classified as a nuisance animal

Impound fees:

  • A fee of $50 per day will be added for every animal kept at the animal impound
  • If an animal is held by Animal Control for more than 6 days, the animal becomes property of NCN Animal Control

We love our dogs they are part of our families. Tying them up is an act of responsibility, care, and respect for our neighbors, our children, our Elders, and our pets.

Let’s work together to:

  • Prevent dog attacks
  • Keep NCN safe for everyone

Please secure your dogs to your property.

Thank you for doing your part and helping protect our community. If you have any animal concerns or have any questions about responsible pet ownership, contact our animal control officer, Ted, by phone: 204-670-1503.
