CAREER OPPORTUNITY – RED SEAL HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC

SUMMARY:

The NCN Public Works is looking for a highly motivated and committed Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Will work under the direction of the Director of Public Works.  Able to prioritize and quickly adapt to change, work independently, and as part of a team.

DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, Heavy Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Trouble shoots, plans, and performs work requiring a through knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and pneumatic principles trade techniques, properties of various materials and operating and application principles of equipment.
• Installs and repairs mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, generators, fans, trucks, loading and hauling equipment as required.
• Recommend system and parts modifications, repair or replacement, change in materials.
• Follows specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts, drawing and catalogs.
• Examines and reason thorough causes for failure or improper operations of engines, running gear, parts and equipment.
• Repairs and rebuilds engines, hydraulic and electric systems of diesel, electric, propane, gasoline and pneumatic powered equipment.
• Repairs and rebuilds transmissions, traction, motors and differentials.
• Uses precision testing equipment (Diagnostic Machine) to determine source and cause of trouble and to perform close tolerance adjustments.
• Test operates repaired equipment as required.
• Make field repairs as required to get equipment back in service.
• Maintain logbook.
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• The ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solve technical issues that arise.
• Team player, ability to provide deliverables within set time frames.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Must be a Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Red Seal
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and updated technology
• Provide copies of Credential and Drivers Abstract.
• Work location is in person.
