Chief and Council, in consultation with NCN’s Health Director have decided to authorize NCN Citizens/residents to leave the community to go camping within NCN’s RMA as long as no-one goes past Mile 20 to the east or Suwanne River to the northwest. No trips are allowed into Thompson, Leaf Rapids or South Indian Lake. The same rules that apply in the community in relation to gatherings of 10 or less, physical distancing, personal and campsite sanitization, etc. must still be followed.

Special passes will be issued at the Trust Office on Friday, May 15, 2020 until 5:00pm, Saturday, 10:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday, 10:00am to 4:00pm. Each person must agree to abide by all of the conditions that are applicable to the Special Pass. Fines will be imposed both under NCN Laws and federal and provincial laws if violations occur. Anyone who previously violated our NCN Laws including the Orders in Council will not be allowed to go camping outside the community this weekend.

We want everyone to have a good time and enjoy our traditional activities within N’tuskenan, but we want everyone to remain safe and virus free. Danger from the virus still exists so be careful and follow the rules. Also, bears are on the move so be alert, do not feed them and stay safe.

At all times remember Aski Kanache Pumenikewin and Pastahowin, our customary laws, as we have ongoing responsibilities for our land and to obey the laws.
