Under the direction of the Circle of Life Coordinator, the Bereavement Driver will be responsible for assisting the bereaved families prepare for transportation arrangements, wake and/or funeral services. The driver will also be responsible in assisting that the facilities are well prepared for bereavement services.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Duties include, however not limited to the following:
    • Driving bereaved family and deceased
      • Often to Winnipeg and return to the north
    • Preparing Church for funeral
      • Cleaning prior to and after service
      • Setting up casket area
      • Ensuring door ways are clear of snow/ice and other obstructions
    • Tacking Bereavement Department’s equipment location and return specific to:
      • Coffee/tea pots
      • Air conditioner
      • Hand sanitization station
      • Shovels
      • Rope
      • Casket covers
    • Graveyard maintenance during summer months
    • Public transportation during community events
    • Transportation/pick up of:
      • Feast foods and/or groceries
      • wreath(s)
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Acquire Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Class 4 license required
  • Shifting on-call duties
