Position Summary/ Job Description

The Assistant Cook will help in food preparation and daily activities. Assist cook in meal preparations, follow daily food production and prepare specific food items. To ensure canteen area is kept clear of obstruction in accordance with Health & Safety regulation.

Duties:

  • Ensure safe food handling practices are in place.
  • Help with stocking food orders.
  • Cook and food preparation skills.
  • Ensure proper and secure food storage .
  • Ensure the kitchen meets health code standards and health inspection.
  • May require to work weekends and or evenings.
  • Help and maintain an updated inventory while ordering food and supplies.
  • Can handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Operate cash register and handling cash.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Guidelines:

  • Experience in a cooking and safe food handling practice.s
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and capable of receiving and giving instructions.
