Honouring a Remarkable Leader: Deputy Chief Marcel Moody

It is with deep love, pride, and respect that I offer this tribute to a man whose life and leadership have profoundly shaped our Nation: Our Deputy Chief and former Chief and Councillor, Marcel Moody.
For more than three decades, Chief Marcel Moody has served the people of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation with humility, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.
First elected in 1990, he has been a pillar of leadership as a Councillor, as Chief from 2014 to 2022, and now as our Deputy Chief. Throughout his career, he has shown us all what it means to lead with honour-quietly, steadily, and always putting our people first.
Marcel’s vision for NCN has always been bold and clear: for us to become the greatest Nation in the country — self governing, self-sustaining, culturally strong, and united. Under his leadership, NCN achieved groundbreaking milestones, including the adoption of our own Nisichawayasi
Othasowewin (NCN Constitution) and Aski Pumenikewin (Land Code – foundational documents that reflect our Nihitho values and our inherent right to govern ourselves. These achievements will serve generations to come.
