Two young girls, Cyindelle François & Cherise François, were walking past the baseball diamond when they heard some whimpering/crying sounds. Looking for the cause, they had found a dog trapped in a culvert. Not ignoring the animals pleas for help, they flagged down a woman that was driving by, and once knowing what was happening, that same woman called our office.

This estimated 70 pound dog was trapped in a 16” culvert and unable to go backwards or dig its way forward and out. Another lady coming from the Multiplex was offering a spade and the process of digging the dog out, started. There were large rocks buried under the fine crushed gravel, stopping the dog from digging out. Through digging with the spade and by hand, enough material was removed, and the dog pulled itself out.

The girls should be very proud of themselves for saving that dog and I gave them great praise for stopping someone for help. Excellent work girls.

If you know either of these girls and you see them, maybe give them a congratulations and a compliment for being kind and caring and for doing such a good thing.

The dog belonged to NCN resident Patrina Mcdonald who was very thankful to have her dog home, safe and sound.

“Thank you to my two beautiful niece’s for saving my baby, we were wondering why she came home all muddy. I don’t know how she got herself in there? I’m glad she’s okay, my poor baby and thank you to everyone who helped her!”

The last photo is of the dog at home in it’s pen, all cleaned up!
